The District and Orinda Education Association (OEA) are pleased to inform the community that a tentative agreement to resolve negotiations for the 2023-2024 school year has been reached. March 20, 2024 Mediation Session
The District and Orinda Education Association (OEA) are at an "impasse" in negotiations. Under our state’s collective bargaining law, when the parties are unable to come to an agreement during the negotiations process, they must participate in what is known as the “impasse process.” Impasse is defined as when “the parties to a dispute over matters subject to negotiations have reached a point at which their differences in positions are so substantial and prolonged that future meetings would be futile.” One or both bargaining parties may request a determination for the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) to determine if an impasse has been reached. OEA submitted such a request on January 31, 2024 and PERB determined an impasse exists on February 6, 2024.
State mediator was assigned and first mediation session between the District and OEA is scheduled for March 20, 2024.
